Now we’re updating the lighting, reworking the audio system, and prepping the space for a grand piano. Design vision is everything, but making it buildable is the real challenge. From wrapping structural features in black leather to mounting a massive jaguar on the wall, every idea has to be engineered to actually work. And yes... sometimes that means adding hidden backing in the walls to make the impossible possible. In the meantime, we’re doing intrusive and exploratory work on-site so our engineers and architects have everything they need. The more information upfront, the smoother the process when construction is in full swing. It’s all about smart prep, not rushed progress. They choose the finishes, we measure, order, and install... start to finish. Since the husband is tall and the wife is closer to my height, we installed pull-down cabinet systems in the kitchen to keep everything accessible. We’re also putting in two wine cabinets with wine fridges, plus an elevator that will run down to the second floor. We even re-routed fire sprinklers, water lines, and floor heating to make it all work. We’re excited to share a behind-the-scenes look at one of our newest tenant-finish projects: transforming this empty space into Convict Coffee, a full-service café built from the ground up. Demo is already underway as we’ve opened up the walls so we can run new electrical and plumbing, and the entire front section will soon house all the coffee equipment, panini stations, and prep areas. In the back, we’re updating the bathroom to meet full ADA requirements, and the main floor will feature cozy booths, merchandise displays, and a layout that flows perfectly for customers. We’re rerouting electrical, adding a full speaker system, updating HVAC while reusing what we can, and making every inch of this space work. A lot is happening in a small footprint, but once we’re done, it’s going to be an incredible spot for the community. Stay tuned!
